Durante el período de la dictadura de Pinochet, un grupo de chilenos fotografió las protestas y la sociedad chilena en sus más variadas facetas. En la calle, al ritmo de las protestas, estos fotógrafos se formaron y crearon un lenguaje político. Para ellos fotografiar fue una practica de libertad, un intento de supervivencia, una alternativa para poder seguir viviendo. Sus fotografías sirvieron para apoyar el testimonio de las victimas de la dictadura y fueron fundamentales para iniciar procesos de justicia. Algunos de ellos fueron reprimidos brutalmente, otros asesinados... la mayoría siguen vivos.
During Pinochet’s dictatorship a group of Chileans photographs protests and civil society in a variety of aspects. In the streets with the rhythm of protests, these photographers formed and created a political language. For them photographing was a freedom practice, and an effort to survive, an alternative to carry on living. Their pictures were used to support the testimony of victims and were fundamental to initiate legal processes. Some of them were brutally repressed, others murdered... but most of them are alive.
