2008, THE FILMS... OF MARCH, IN GUADALAJARA The XXII edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival came to an end with the award and closing ceremony. This year we offered 402 screenings and a total of 66,000 spectators (4,000 more than last year’s editions) were part of this Festival.

AWARDS AT THE XXII EDITION OF THE GUADALAJARA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL "Párpados azules" ("Blue eyelids") by Ernesto Contreras and "Malos hábitos" ("Bad Habits"), by Simón Bross, were awarded the best Ibero-American Feature film and the best Mexican Fiction film prizes, respectively, at the Festival’s XXII edition. A REENCOUNTER WITH MEXICO Costa-Gavras received the Silver Mayahuel award at the Guadalajara International Film Festival in recognition to his career. Raúl Padilla, director of the Festival’s Foundation, handed out the prize to the French filmmaker at the Ceremony that took place on Wednesday in Teatro Diana.

“MAY THE DIRECTORS FORGIVE ME, BUT THE SCREENPLAY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF ANY FILM” At a packed auditorium, Rubem Fonseca dribbled, played and shot answers as if he were a “Garrincha” of letters to students that were present at the magisterial conference with the Brazilian writer at the course that took place on Wednesday 28 at the workshop Convene with Creators.

CHARITY FUNCTION AT HOSPICO CABAÑAS Last Tuesday evening, with a positive response from the public, the charity gala for the Children of Hospicio Cabañas took place. "¿Por qué se frotan las patitas?" by Álvaro Begines was screened at Teatro Diana.
